Mug Set Glazing Inspiration

This week I wanted to focus on ways that I can glaze my mug sets to make them look more unified. Below were some ideas that I thought looked very nice. I would like to incorporate them into the next set that I make.

I am curious how these mugs are speckled. Perhaps splattering paint with a paintbrush or toothbrush? I think black on top of the pretty pale green would look nice.

This could be a very cool carved design to use on a hand built mug. This way the slab could be carved into, then it would be assembled. I may begin a set like this next week.

  1. To create the dark brown rim, make a mixture of 50% rutile and 50% iron... say 1 tsp of each... mix with water and dip the rim of the mug into it after the white glaze has been applied. The contrast of the glazed top and unglazed bottom is something I have been advocating! Rutile and Iron oxide are in containers on the shelf.
